Books on legendary singers released

Two books written by author Nanganallur K Ranganathan on Karnataka Arasiyar Thirai isai padal – MS

Subbulakshmi, DK Pattammal and ML Vasanthakumari and another on MK Thyagaraja Bagavathar and K

B Sundarambal were released at a function held at Vivekananda Hall of the PS Higher Secondary School

in Mylapore last week.

Dr Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiyar of Nalli Silks and a patron of music and dance released the books and the

first copies were received by veteran stage and TV artist Kathadi Ramamurthy, veteran stage and movie

actor S Ve Shekher, Auditor J Balasubramaniam (JB), actress Rajashree and Kumari Chachu, Muktha Ravi

of Muktha Films and Prakash M Swamy. Veteran actress Kumari Chachu also received the first copies

from the author.

The author K Ranganathan was felicitated by the dignitaries and the books were published by

Manivasagar Pathipakam in Parry’s Corner. K Mohammed Ibrahim Khaleel, former regional director of

ICCR Chennai, D S Rajagopalan, secretary of Kartik Fine Arts, Gurumurthy from Manivasagar Pathipakam

and others attended the event. S G Sridharan, retired branch manager of IOB and an ardent music and

movie buff had made all the arrangements along with the author.
