Cops seal BJP’s election office in Mylapore
The City Police last week sealed the election office of the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) located next to the Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore after they found
violations a day after the office was inaugurated
The Police said that the temple site was purchased for commercial use but used
as political party office. Renuka, Chennai District Joint Commissioner of the Hindu
Religious Endowments Department (HR and CE) conducted investigations and
sealed the BJP election office that was inaugurated in view of the upcoming
parliamentary election.
On behalf of BJP South Chennai District, an election office was opened at RK Mutt
Road in Mylapore Constituency, Chennai. The Parliamentary Office of Mylapore
Constituency was opened in the presence of senior leaders State Vice President
Karu Nagarajan and Karate Thyagarajan and South Chennai Parliamentary In-
Charge Raja at this place belonging to Kapaleeswarar Temple.
The HR& CE department which governs and administers over 50,000 Hindu
temples including the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple in Chennai found
violations that a land next to the temple premises used for political purpose.
Following this, the HR & CE inspected the spot and conducted investigation and
subsequently sealed the office
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu BJP termed this action by the HR & CE officials of the
DMK led government in Tamil Nadu as “vendetta politics.”
