Ice cream seller held for abuse of girl

Madan Lal, a 63-year-old man, was arrested in Mylapore for sexually

assaulting a 16-year-old girl at his ice cream parlor. He was sent to

judicial custody under the Pocso Act after an inquiry and is now in jail.

Police said the girl, Class XI student at a government school, went to the

shop to buy ice cream.

As she was standing in the shop, Madan Lal inappropriately touched her

under the pretext of taking his mobile phone. The girl then went home

and informed her elder sister

The two of them went to the shop in the evening and Madan Lal tried

to sexually harass the girl again. The two sprayed pepper spray on his

face and raised an alarm

The onlookers gathered and one of the residents informed the City

Police control room. A police team rushed to the spot and nabbed

Madan Lal.

A case under Section 354 IPC (Sexual harassment) and Section 8 of the

Posco Act was filed against him and he was remanded to custody.
