Karthigai Deepam festival with lighting of earthen lamps was celebrated at Sri Kapaleeswarar temple

despite heavy rain The down pour did not dampen the spirits of devotees who had gathered in large

numbers to participate in the celebrations. A large number of women drew kolams and lit the traditional

lamp with ghee and gingely oil to mark the occasion. They also exchanged manjal kungumam among

other devotees. A large number of devotees had lit the traditional lamps on the steps of the temple tank

after the dusk. A chokkapanai was also lit by the temple priests.
