Kartik Rajagopal centenary on Jan 28


Kartik Kala Samrat awards will be presented to Padma Vibhushan

awardee and mridangam maestro Dr Umayalpuram Sivaraman,

Legendary Bharatanatyam exponent Padma Bhushan awardee

Dr Padma Subrahmanyam and doyen of theater Kathadi S Ramamurthy

by Kartik Fine Arts on the occasion of birth centenary celebrations of its

founder the late Kartik Rajagopal at Narada Gana Sabha main

auditorium in Alwarpet on Jan 28 at 5 PM

Dr Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiyar will be the chief guest and K

Harishankar, Secretary, Federation of City Sabhas Chennai and Vijaya

Thayanban, member secretary of Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Mandram

will be the guests of honor and pay tributes to the memory of late

Rajagopal. S Balakumar will respond on behalf of the family of Shri

Rajagopal. The centenary souvenir coin will also be released. S N

Srikanth, president of Kartik Fine Arts will preside over the function.

The program will start with a Tamil play Idhu Enna Sorgam by

Gurukulam the original Boys’ Co. 95 based on a story by Kalki R

Krishnamurthy to the dramatization of S. Gowri Shankar and directed

by Madhava Bhoovaraga Murthy.

There will be a screening of documentary on the life of Kartik Rajagopal

named the divine kala poshakar written and directed by S B Khanthan

immediately after the award function.

There will be a dance drama Parishvanga Pattabhishekam by

Bharathanjali & Cleveland Aradhana based on Valmiki Ramayanam

(Kishkinda Kaandam and Sundara Kaandam) with lyrics and music by

Neyveli Santhanagopalan, add on music : Dr P R Venkatasubramanian

choreography by guru Anitha Guha and coordinated by TV Varadarajen

and C.V Chandramohan.
