Maha Sivaratri at Bhavan Mar 8


Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chennai Kendra will celebrate Maha

Sivaratri Ma 8 at Bhavan’s premises in Mylapore.

Maha Sivaratri is a very important festival celebrating the divine

union of Shiva and Shakthi on that auspicious day. Bhavan’s

Sivaratri Celebrations this year will showcase the Bhakti and

divinity of our culture and tradition they often encompass a

variety of contemporary and traditional musical forms.

Bhavan will show case performances of eminent musicians with

their group for the evening. The performers are highly

appreciated and acknowledged amongst the music fraternity

and widely known for their brand of music.

Sri Kapaleeswarar temple Chief Odhuvar Sargurunathan will

recite Thevaram dedicated to Lord Siva at 5 PM followed by

Ramesh Vinayakam, musician and singer presenting the

Devotional and Meditative SIVOHAM which encompass the

compositions on Lord Shiva in the lines of Ghazal and Bhajan at

6 15 PM

Ramesh Vinayakam will be supported by Raghavendra Rao

(violin), Chandrajith (Tabla), Babu (Guitar), Pranav Ramesh

Vinayakam (Keys), Sharanya Srinivas (Vocal), Manasvini Visagan

(Vocal).

At 7.30 PM Sivasakthiyum Cinemavum- a classical and film

fusion presented by Shubashree Thanikachalam will be staged

supported by Vinaya Kathik Rajan (Vocal), Srivardhani Kuchi

(Vocal), Sai Vignesh (Vocal), Santhosh Subramaniam (Vocal),

Vigneshwar (Keys), Venkat (Tabla), Harishankar (Percussion),

Durai Srinivasan(Violin) and Venkata Narayanan (Flute). This

concept will feature some immortal film songs based on Shiva

and Shakthi. There will be fusion between the two genres of

music in the same theme.

The program is non-ticketed and open to all on first – come –
