Manasvini Sharma has become a name synonymous to Kathak Nrutya

in Chennai today. Her series of solo performances this season is proof

of her dedication and samarpan as a Kathak.

Her recent performance at Auroville Sangeet Utsav, Puducherry is the

next gem in her crown and the institution Jathiswaraalaya where she

trains as well. The performance saw an auspicious start with sargam

followed by Guru Vandana. Shuddh Nritt in Teental with Padhant by her

Guru Lakshmi Kannan mirrored her perfect tayyari (practice).

In Soor Bhajan and Akhiyaan Hari Darsan ki Pyasi she brought forth the

longing of the devotees for Hari’s darshan. Her expression brought

tears in the eyes of not only the dancer but the audience too. The final

number – Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravishankar’s Ektaal Tarana was a fitting

finale.

Her command over rhythm and her stage experience could be seen

while she performed the tatkar and the sawal jawab sessions with ease.

Dr. O.S.Arun’s soulful singing, Guru Dr. P.R Venkata Subramanian’s

blending following on the Keyboard Satyanarayana and Chandrajit’s

electrifying tabla, Kishore and Manonmani’s reverberating Sitar and

Sarangi embellished the performance.

All the tracks were authentically and very professionally recorded for

Jathiswaraalaya by her Gurus. She is a daughter of Mala Sharma and

Satish Sharma and a proud granddaughter of K.N. Ramaswamy,

Director Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chennai.

This program was organized by Ministry of Culture, Government of

India in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai and Karthik

Fine Arts
