Navaratri at Sri Vellieswarar temple



Sri Vellieswarar temple in South Mada Street will be celebrating Navaratri in a grand manner

from Oct 15 to 24 with special alankarams and cultural programs for the devotees.

Goddess Kamakshi Amman, the presiding deity of the temple will preside over the celebrations

at the Golu mandapam on all the nine days with different alankarams such as Anna Vahanam

on Oct 15, Gowri alankaram on Kamadhenu vahanam on Oct 16, Saraswathy alankaram on Oct

17, Padmasini alankaram on Naga vahanam on Oct 18, Maheswari alankaram on Rishaba

vahanam on Oct 19, Raja Rajeswari alankaram on Oct 20, Meenakshi alankaram on horse

vahanam on Oct 21, Mahishasura Mardhini alankaram on Oct 22, Kambanathi Siva Pooja on

Oct 23 and Par vettai vizha with Lord Chandrasekhara Swami on horse vahanam on the

concluding day.

There will be special abhishekam to Goddess Kamakshi in the mornings and the decorated

Kamakshi idol will be kept in the golu mandapam at 6 PM every day. There will be musical

events at 6 30 PM every day from Oct 15. Prabhakaran Sengunthar, president of the board of

trustees and S Nagarajan Sengunthar and M Shanmuganathan Sengunthar, trustees, are making

necessary arrangements for the success of the nine-day festival.
