PS Higher Sec School Alumni Day
Presenting Distinguished Alumnus Award 2023 to 1952 batch
student AN Radhakrishnan and cultural programs marked the
Alumni Day of the PS Higher Secondary School, Mylapore
earlier this week.
At the gala function held at TAG Dakshinamurthy auditorium,
AN Radhakrishnan, director of Shriram Group Companies and
Shriram Foundation, was honored with the Distinguished
Alumnus award by Akhila Srinivasan, director of Shriram Group
companies.
Radhakrishnan, a proud student of the then PS High School
passed SSLC in 1952 and after M Sc in Mathematics joined AM
Jain College as a lecturer. Later he moved to the corporate and
worked with Ramco Group for over 22 years as senior vice
president and joined the Shriram Group in 1986 as director
under the chairmanship of R Thyagarajan.
As a trustee of Shriram Foundation he focuses on education
and harnessing the power of youth. He has been associated
with the PS Educational Society for over two decades as
secretary of the PS Senior Secondary School, treasurer of PS
Educational Society, trustee of PS Charities and currently
president of the management committee of PS Higher
Secondary School.
A management guru, he has a penchant for composing poems
and authored the PS Anthem for the PS Educational
institutions.
Akhila Srinivasan who presented the award to Radhakrishnan
recalled his contribution to the Shriram Group as director for
over three decades providing valuable advice and contribution
for the growth of the organization. She also released the
newsletter of the school and presented the first copy to the
dignitaries on the stage
Radhakrishnan is the second recipient of the award and last
year’s award was given to Dr K V Ramani, founder chancellor of
Sai University and an alumnus of 1965 batch.
C V Krishnan, secretary of the school managing committee in
his welcome address highlighted the achievements of the
government aided higher secondary school. He said Alumni Day
provided a rare opportunity to former students to meet their
surviving teachers, class mates and re-live the good old days by
visiting the class rooms and playing basket ball in the basketball
court.
KVS Gopalakrishnan, president of the PS Educational Society
presided over the function and offered felicitations to
Radhakrishnan. M S Sundara Rajan and R Sivakumar, president
and secretary of PS Higher Secondary School Alumni
Association respectively praised the services of Radhakrishnan.
A large number of alumni, members of the Parent Teachers
Association, present and former teachers, school management
committee members and invited guests attended the gala
event. Dr Kala Raman headmistress of the school had made all
the arrangements for the grand success of the event.
