Thiru Mylais Thiru Vizha – a roaring success

The last leg of the four day Thiru Mylais Thiru Vizha held on Feb 1 and 2

concluded with a roaring success with a huge turnout of both visitors

and participants in various competitions.

The festival was powered by Kauvery Hospitals, Srirangam P

Nachimuthu Textiles, Glowing Minds and City Union Bank Mandaveli

branch

The last two days witnessed competitions for children in various age

groups in painting, Bharatanatyam, oratorical and vocal both groups

and individual categories and the venue – Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls

Higher Secondary School in Sundareswarar Street in Mylapore was

inundated with enthusiastic crowd.

Though the competitions were held between 4 PM and 7 PM on Feb 1,

the doors were opened at 9 AM on Sunday. Food stalls, ranga rattinam,

kili josiyam, entertainment galore and festivities added colour to the

celebrations.

There were several interesting and educative booths at the festival and

the main attraction was enrolment of senior citizens for Ayushman

Bharat scheme of Government of India put up by Mylapore Mandal unit

of the Tamil Nadu BJP.

At the valedictory function held in the evening, Mylapore MLA Dha Velu

distributed prizes to winners and also recognised leading Mylaporeans

with Star of Mylapore awards and Pride of Mylapore Awards. He

praised the weekly for its outreach program and for making

Mylaporeans happy by conducting a four day festival that was an

instant success.


A Revathy, Councillor of Greater Chennai Corporation praised the

weekly and offered her felicitations to the winners of various

competitions. Dr A V Srinivasan spoke on maintaining good health and

happiness. He released a Tamil book Sinthanai Muthukkal (Pearls of

wisdom) and the first copy were received by Dha Velu and Revathy.

The Star of Mylapore awards were presented to Dr A V Srinivasan,

internationally renowned neuro physician, Vidwan Saketharaman, J

Balasubramaniam (JB) auditor and founder of Savithri Foundation, Dr P

R Venkatasubramanian, renowned Vaggeyakara, Dr Rukmini Ramani,

noted composer and daughter of Papanasam Sivan and T V

Varadarajen, TV and stage personality.

The Pride of Mylapore awards were presented to Thambi K

Parthasarathy, secretary of Kalyana Nagar Association and a leading

social worker and Vijayalakshmi founder of Glowing minds play school

Prakash M Swamy editor in chief welcomed the gathering and AV

Ganapathy, chief marketing manager, proposed a vote of thanks.

Mythreyi Rajagopalan was the emcee of the evening.
