Young Sangeetha attracts attention of rasikas
Sangeetha Narayanan, a 12th standard student has become a young upcoming
versatile musician attracting the eyes of rasikas. She is a multi-instrumentalist,
learning and playing Carnatic, devotional and film music on six Instruments –
veena, flute, violin, keyboard, mandolin and kazoo.
She is also learning Carnatic vocal and has also composed about 20 Carnatic
Krithis. She is also good at Harikatha learning for the past four years. She is also
learning Bharatanatyam for six years
Her musical journey began at the age of two when she started learning Carnatic
vocal under the tutelage of her mother. She started learning keyboard at the age
of four, veena from her guru G. Ananthy, violin for four years from S P
Ananthapadmanabha and flute from S. Rajaram for another three years.
She is currently learning Mandolin and Kazoo and practicing all the instruments
on her own. She had performed veena concerts for Shri Thyagaraja Fine Arts
Academy, Chennai; Rudra Yaazh Academy, Kanchipuram; Trichy Saratha’s 7
Swarangal Margazhi Music Festival (veena and flute); homage to Padma Bhushan
Mysore Vasudevacharya in Bangalore, Pushkaram Trust in Chennai Hamsadhwani,
Andhra Pradesh Bharatheeya Kala Samithi, Subham Fine Arts, Kala Prashala, Sai
Raga Sabha to name a few.
She has also given Facebook live and recorded online flute performances in Music
Of Madras Facebook Page Trichy Saratha’s 7 Swarangal Margazhi Music Festival
and Amrithavarshini Facebook Page She also participated in Epic Choir 2023,
organized in Dubai, as a flautist conducted under the mentorship of Neyveli
Santhanagopalan
She has participated and won in many music competitions such as title winner of
7 Swarangal Online Carnatic Music Talent Hunt (Worldwide) for Junior String -
Veena and received the title ‘Swara Visharad’, Best Concept and Performance
Award in Covid Made Cultural Star competition by Dr. Rose Muralikrishnan and
Spring Nectar Foundation, Los Angeles and won first prize in flute and first prize
in Harikatha
She won a second prize for veena at The Hindu Margazhi Competition among over
800 entries. She got first prize in veena, first prize in flute and first prize in
elocution in the Thyagaraja Aradhana Competition Conducted by Naadha Nidhi
She has also been recognized by musicians including AR Rahman as Special
Mention in the 99 songs covers contest for her multi-instrumental performance
and recognition from Malayalam Music Director Kailas Menon for winning the
first prize in the Yathonnum Parayathe Covers Contest. She had won appreciation
from singers KS Chitra and Mano.
